RN – One Day Surgery – Full Time (Days; No weekends/holidays/call)

Requirements:

What to expect as an RN in One Day Surgery:

  • Manage patient care (infants to geriatrics) for smooth operations in the Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Pre-op, and Outpatient Recovery areas without any on-call obligation.
  • Complete the PAT interview with patients; is responsible to obtain accurate medical, medication, surgical and social history.
  • Counsel and educate patients about upcoming surgeries or procedures and provide discharge care instructions after surgery.
  • Preoperatively prepare patients the morning of surgery; verify completion of diagnostic and legal documentation, perform physical assessment, and start IV’s.
  • Perform direct patient care postoperatively in Phase II Recovery. Assess airway adequacy, manage pain, and complete the discharge process.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the quality of nursing care given within One Day Surgery according to policies.
  • Provide flexibility; adjust hours as needed to accommodate a variable surgery schedule.
  • Function in a fast-paced environment. Effectively work with team members and ancillary departments to provide quality patient care across the continuum to support efficient patient flow.
  • Be able to deliver excellent, personalized, and compassionate healthcare to support the patient experience.

Qualifications:

  • Current Missouri RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Previous EMR (Electronic Medical Record) experience required.
