An exempt position of a trained individual responsible for performing community outreach and research subject recruitment initiatives, assist in research promotion and advertising, coordinate eligibility efforts, and provide patient education, as well as administrative duties and clinical research tasks under the direction of the research physicians and nurse manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Maintains research subject recruitment database and ongoing communication with research subjects or candidates; assists research staff with upcoming appointment reminders and serves as a point of contact for establishing subjects.
  2. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving subject medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying patient demographics; managing and updating research charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
  3. Fulfills clinical research subject responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules and organizing subject flow; accompanying subjects to exam/procedure room; assisting subjects as needed; collecting subject history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting with various procedures including specimen collection, processing and handling; charting and data entry; relaying instructions to subjects; answering recruitment calls, and providing pertinent information; all within scope of practice.
  4. Serves as a primary contact for local referring providers, works closely with Research Office Supervisor in the planning of research subject recruitment efforts or events; may organize charitable drives and increase presence of research in the community. Works with subject recruitment contacts and vendors to achieve research subject recruitment goals. Fulfills required subject recruitment communication with sponsors.
  5. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting subject rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to subjects and/or staff with immediate supervisor.

Department Specific Job Duties:

  1. Assists with direct, and indirect, operational activity occurring in clinical research studies
  2. Proper documentation of research information into sponsor provided data management collection systems
  3. Completes sponsor required training modules
  4. Recruitment of research subjects and obtaining informed consent
  5. Ensure protection of privacy for all study research subjects
  6. Maintains compliance with all federal, state, local and institutional laws in accordance for good clinical practice, Universal Guidelines and the Common Rule as they relate to clinical research studies
  7. Support data management for clinical research

Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (CMA, LPN, etc.). Must possess current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis). Maintaining active certifications required, as applicable.

Experience: 1-5 years recent experience working in a healthcare setting. Marketing and/or Clinical research experience a plus.
