RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Adelante Mujeres Early Childhood Education (ECE) team, the Infant and Toddler Teacher plans, ensures and supports each child's safety, health, learning and development in collaboration with their parents, other classroom staff, ECE Manager and other early childhood education professionals in a manner consistent with Adelante Mujeres Mission and Vision, Head Start Performance Standards, USDA, and state childcare center licensing regulations. The Teacher designs and leads Early Childhood best practices, policies and procedures that support an employee-oriented, community-centered and culturally responsive organization. This role follows an 11 month teaching calendar with the month of July off. The Infant Toddler teacher collaborates with the Infant Toddler Assistant Teacher and reports to ECE Coordinator.

  • Creates and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans for infants and toddlers, considering their individual needs and interests.
  • Partners with families to develop positive, open, relationship-based two-way communication using home visits, parent/teacher conferences and other communication tools.
  • Ensures the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and implementing all organization standards.
  • Conducts observations, coordinates developmental screenings, and creates individual and classroom improvement plans
  • Participates in professional development and training. Completes training requirements by licensing and the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Adelante Mujeres and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educación Secundaria AND Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate, OR
  • AA/AS degree in child development, human development, education, elementary education, human ecology, child and family studies, special education, home economics, or family and consumer studies that includes significant coursework in infant/toddler early childhood education AND 6 months actual work experience with infant/toddler age children, OR
  • BA/BS degree or higher in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education that includes significant coursework in infant/toddler AND 6 months actual work experience working with infant toddler age children
  • 2+ years' experience teaching children ages 0- 3 years of age  
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred
  • Possess basic knowledge and ability to operate computers with applicable software (Windows Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Committed to education, social justice, women's empowerment and the environment

Physical Requirements of the Job and Job Conditions

  • Twist, bend, reach, stoop, carry weight, and think strategically about how to properly move heavy items.
  • Prolonged walking and standing
  • Crawl or lie on floor or grass as appropriate for child-centered activities 
  • Change diapers of children as needed  

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation to arrive without delay
  • Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour, with an increase based on qualifications and ORO Step
  • Classification: Full-time, non-exempt, working 40 hours per week.
  • Benefits: health, vision, dental, short-term and long-term disability, 401K pension plan, life insurance, EAP, professional development opportunities, transportation stipend, paid leave of absence, paid holidays (11.5 days annually), sick days (up to 9 days annually), vacation per year (up to 20 days years one through five, up to 25 days after five years), and sabbatical (1 month at 10 years of employment).
