Job Summary

The P&C Analytics Solutions team is one of the four pillars within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialty Risk team. This pillar aims to add value to the underwriting, product, actuarial, portfolio management, and claim teams by providing solutions and services across the value chain. It is within the mandate of the team to be at the forefront of analytics understanding by driving the development of novel solutions through the combination of risk knowledge and data science capabilities.

We are seeking a motivated and client centric candidate with a passion for analytics and technology to join our highly skilled team. The Sr P&C Data & Analytics Solutions will work as a thought leader, subject matter expert, and technical data scientist to help design, develop, and support the data and analytics solutions. This unique position works closely with other portfolio risk managers, actuarial and product subject matter experts, and senior software engineers to brainstorm, research, design, and develop new capabilities and solutions, leveraging the latest technologies. These are and will continue to be industry leading commercial tools and solutions that support and enhance the work of ERM, portfolio and product analysts at Orion180 across the US.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Support and manage projects related to the development of property analytics solutions.
  • Identify and understand our internal stakeholder data analytics needs, priorities, and strategies.
  • Leverage analytics and perform quantitative analyses to support and consult our partners on their key priorities.
  • Develop innovative solutions where we have white spots in our offerings today.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Advanced degree in computer science, applied mathematics, probability/statistics, actuarial science, engineering, econometrics, or related areas of study with quantitative background required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in executing projects with technical background & analytical components required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and expertise in machine learning, analytics tools, and data platforms (relational databases, SQL, and Power BI) required. Software development is a plus.
  • Predictive modelling experience across the insurance value chain. Marketing, pricing, underwriting, claims, capital modelling required.
  • Experience in advanced analytics in underwriting, claims, and portfolio management workflows for better, faster decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience building portfolio management dashboards, actuarial tools and solutions using Python and/or R.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, business mindset, can-do attitude, and ability to assimilate complex information.
  • Good internal client facing and consulting skills.
  • Experience in running client projects while working with cross-functional and/or virtual teams
Preferred Skills
  • Experience building dashboards and reports in data visualization/business intelligence software such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Firm grasp of practical approaches to data science, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence theory
  • Exposure to cloud-based data analytics tools (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure Machine Learning)
  • Knowledge of primary and surplus lines insurance products.
  • Portfolio management and Reinsurance experience.
