COMPANY SUMMARY:  

Hodge Western Corp (HWC) specializes in rock trenching across the central, southern, and western United States. We serve markets ranging from underground utility, pipeline, utility-scale renewables, and other infrastructure installation. Within the rock trenching division, we work as a team dedicated to safe and productive operations. This includes routine, daily maintenance to proactively take care of the trenching equipment so it can take care of the customer – and ultimately you and your colleagues.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Oiler + Operator Apprentice ($20-25/hr) – this is a growth position, no previous trenching experience required, learn under one of our experienced operators, and grow within our company. Preference given to strong mechanical, construction, or equipment operation background. Dedication and hard work will lead to a 50% average increase in compensation once achieving Entry-Level Operator.
  • Entry-Level Trenching Operator ($30-40/hr) – 1+ year previous rock trenching experience required along with demonstrated ability to run in accordance with our standard operating procedures. Preference given to knowledge of Tesmec, Vermeer, TopCon.
  • Travel – both are full-time travelling positions.
  • Location – we have one position opening in each Northwest Arkansas and Boise, Idaho.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work daily to ensure safe and efficient operations such that we are able to trench in a clear, unobstructed manner.
  • Daily fueling, checking fluids, and greasing machine; welding as required daily/weekly
  • Topcon GPS for control, layout, and as-builts.
  • QA/QC to ensure trench dimensions are within spec; daily forms completed as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment; follow all OSHA and site-specific safety regulations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to lift at least 75 pounds, work on your feet, and be outside year-round
  • Willing to work 10+ hour shifts and overtime and weekend as needed
  • Preferred experiences – construction, heavy equipment operating, mechanic, welding
