POSITION SUMMARY:

The Plumbing Camera & Rod Technician is responsible for conducting inspections of plumbing systems using specialized camera and rod equipment. They play a critical role in identifying and diagnosing plumbing issues, assisting in the maintenance, repair, and overall functioning of plumbing systems. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  • Operate and maneuver camera and rod equipment through plumbing lines to capture video footage and images of the pipes’ interior
  • Analyze captured footage and images to identify problems such as blockages, leaks, damage pipes, root intrusion, or other abnormalities
  • Record and document inspection results, included detailed reports and recommendations for repairs or maintenance
  • Experienced and expertise in using rodding equipment to clear blockages, leaks, or other problems and implementing effective remediation strategies
  • Comfort with using and maintaining various tools and equipment specific to camera and rod work, such as cameras, inspection software, rodding machines, and related technologies
  • Perform routine maintenance on camera and rod equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition
  • Keep abreast of the latest techniques, technologies, and best practices in plumbing inspection methods

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Previous experience as a plumbing camera and rod technician or in a similar role is preferred
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems and components, as well as proficiency in operating camera and rod equipment
  • Ability to closely analyze video footage and images, identifying potential plumbing issues accurately
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting plumbing problems and providing appropriate recommendations for repair or maintenance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with plumbing professionals, clients, and provide detailed reports 
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and lift and carry equipment as necessary 
  • A valid driver’s license may be required for travel to job sites
