Performance Test Engineer

Join a team of 7 engineers who work on the Test Operations that includes Automation, Test Tool development and non-functional testing for the Financial Planning Product
Job responsibilities: This department (Planning Solutions) is responsible for the proprietary financial planning platform (PX) that our financial representatives use to provide comprehensive plans to clients on our products and services. This group supports test automation for all of Planning Solutions and is in search of someone who understands what features they are developing, putting together test plans and best practices to optimize test repositories. This role also has a significant emphasis on developing non-functional performance testing for roughly 9-10 scrum teams. Experience with API’s and building performance tests from scratch is critical to this position.
Location: New York Campus Technical Requirements: Proficiency in performance testing using any of (JMeter, K6, Gatling, Loadrunner); Programming experience in JavaScript/Node.js, UI/API Test Automation.Team Dynamic: Team of 7 overseen by an Assistant Director of Software Engineering (Priya Balasubramanian). 4 – Test Engineers, 1 – SDET, 1 – Software Engineer and 1 – Software Engineering Manager.
As a Performance Test Engineer, your job is to ensure the quality of the financial planning solutions product by validating performance, scalability, and resiliency in our software solutions by designing, developing, and driving tests, frameworks, and tools.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of professional experience required in Performance Engineering / Testing and performance testing tools
- 3+ years of professional experience with Java/Python/JavaScript
- Proficient in REST API, Microservices, and API integration testing
- Testing Automation Tools and Frameworks such as: Webdriver IO, Cucumber, Sauce Labs, Mocha, Applitools, etc.
- Excellent understanding of REST architecture and HTTP response codes
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with using continuous integration and deployment concepts
- Familiarity with public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Azure, Containerization)
- Strong technical skills
- Understanding of your business domain
- Understanding of version control using git
- Proven ability to train and mentor others
- Strong analytical skills
- Deep technical ability in performance testing methodologies
- Familiarity with Chaos Testing and chaos testing tools
- Proven understanding of HTTP calls, and web and browser debugging skills are needed
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate optimally in a team environment
- Previous experience with functional methodologies in test engineering or equivalent experience.
- Highly technical and analytical hands-on experience in prior professional, educational, or personal projects.
- Understands Test Automation principles.
- Understands the value of test first methodologies (e.g. BDD, TDD, 3 amigos).
- Experience in testing frameworks as well as automated test frameworks
- Has experience using language-specific testing frameworks relevant to their work.
- Independently builds or refines test strategies & plans.
- Ability to write test cases based on features/requirements/stories.
- Ability to define and complete test monitoring, control, execution, and completion activities.
- Skilled at communicating the need & approach for Performance Test Analysis
- DevOps experience
- Experience in Agile processes and related technologies
