Under the supervision of the Dispatch Coordinator, the Delivery Driver Class A will be responsible for delivering materials to job sites, assuring that the correct materials in the right quantities are placed carefully at the site. All employees are expected to be consistent in following company policies and procedures and safety guidelines; timeliness, quality, accuracy and thoroughness of work performed; attendance, dress, leadership, teamwork, honesty, integrity and respect for others.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Operates all delivery trucks safely and efficiently.
  2. Properly secures loads on delivery vehicles with straps.
  3. Understands all equipment associated with delivery vehicles.
  4. Returns materials from job site as required.
  5. Uses knowledge of area for quick turnaround times.
  6. Verifies load against paperwork to ensure accuracy.
  7. Unloads material at job site without endangering material, property or equipment.
  8. Understands and works within capacity of delivery vehicles.
  9. Checks security of load as necessary.
  10. Conducts daily maintenance checks on vehicles and keeps vehicles clean, free of litter.
  11. Maintains effective communication with dispatch.
  12. Establishes and maintains positive customer relations.
  13. Accurately completes paperwork according to company procedure.
  14. Pulls additional material for orders to be delivered.
  15. Assists yard customer service as needed.
  16. Assists in housekeeping of the facility.
  17. Provides yard security as required.
  18. Assists in training of drivers.
  19. Demonstrates excellent forklift operation skills.
  20. Drives towables safely and efficiently.
  21. Ability to install and uninstall tire chains.
  22. Anticipates best location for unloading materials at difficult job sites.
  23. Performs all maintenance on delivery trucks.
  24. Efficiently delivers multiple dump/drop loads.
  25. Understands, uses and follows the company internal paperwork systems and policies.
  26. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  27. Must abide by Company Values, Culture and Rules of Engagement.
Requirements:

Education A high school education or equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write and speak English and can work with and understand printed forms and documents.

Experience Prior experience in the building industry or customer service is desirable, but not required.

Skills Positive interpersonal skills

Physical Ability to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds and meet the physical requirements as defined in the pre-placement physical.

Other Requires Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record

Must be over 21 or over

Must obtain and maintain a medical card.

Must be able to maintain positive, professional relationships with customers and co-workers.

Must be able to understand and follow instructions, both verbal and written.

Must be able to organize and prioritize the workload assigned.

Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision to complete assigned projects.

Must maintain regular and consistent attendance record.

Typical Working Conditions: This position works outside constantly. An employee in this position will encounter high heat and very cold temperatures. Weather conditions encountered will be sun, rain and snow. An employee in this position will be handling treated lumber and may be exposed to fumes from these products. An employee in this position may also encounter mold.

Equipment Used: This position requires an employee to use forklifts, chainsaw, panel saw, cutoff saw, bobcat, snow blower, shovels and other equipment as assigned.
