POSITION SUMMARY


The HR Generalist position at MASS LUNG & ALLERGY (MLA) performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and customer service. The incumbent must work collaboratively with all staff in support of patient services, exhibiting flexibility and a "can-do" attitude. This position will travel to any of the MLA locations as needed. Organizational efficiency is the key priority in this position requiring the HR Generalist to serve as a point of contact with other internal and external departments, all with the goal of fostering an environment which promotes patient comfort and trust. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct necessary personnel advertising, recruitment, selection, placement, and orientation.
  • Review resumes and applications. Conduct phone screenings and schedule interviews for department managers.
  • Conduct employment offers and rejections.
  • Set up, maintain, and periodically purge individual personnel files and records. Ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Maintain and update timecards, personnel files, and performance management records.
  • Train all employees on timecard system use.
  • Maintain employee badging system.
  • Administer facility's benefits programs, including employees' enrollment and dis-enrollment in all benefit programs such as health insurance, STD, LTD, Life, and 401K, etc.
  • Process all Workers' Compensation and disability claims.
  • Process performance reviews and appraisals noting in the payroll system, any rate changes.
  • Maintain and post OSHA log, job postings, government, and other notices.
  • Report COBRA participants to third-party vendor.
  • Process all unemployment claims and process unemployment reports.
  • Maintain affirmative action plans and programs.
  • Ensure that all required records, reports, documents, and other data are prepared and maintained.
  • Conduct disciplinary action as needed.
  • Conduct investigations as needed.
  • Perform other duties and activities as necessary to accomplish position objectives in an effective and efficient manner, or as directed by Controller or COO.
  • Participate in developing the long and short-range human resources goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Attend management and/or staff meetings, as required.
  • Maintain workstation, according to protocols (free of meals and open beverages).
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned by the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills at a level necessary for understanding provider and supervisors' instructions, and for accurately documenting patients' medical information.
  • Ability to effectively communicate while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact.
  • Intermediate to expert computing and phone skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment.
  • Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations.
  • Working knowledge of "Universal Precautions," demonstrates professionalism at all times.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA.
  • Valid Driver's License, insurance, and ability to travel as required to perform duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with administrative support strongly preferred.
