General Description:
We are seeking a Technical Writer who will be responsible for creating technical documentation, providing content development, and updating existing documentation for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) in Washington DC. This program is focused on the development and implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, ensuring compliance with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular No. A-123, Management’s Responsibility for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Internal Control. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills and experience providing guidance for complex technical volume creation. The successful candidate will work closely with the rest of the Macalogic Project Team and Government SMEs to translate complex, technical information into well-written manuals for technical and non-technical users.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checks author’s documents for spelling, grammar and content problems.
- Develop templates and guides for use by the Macalogic Project Team.
- Suggests revisions to templates as appropriate.
- Provides excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with SMEs (users or technical staff) to gather information, create, edit, and write complex documents clearly.
- Provides strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of products.
- Manages task tracking, workflow processes, and scribe services, as needed.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Ability to translate technical information into manuals for use by technical and non-technical users.
- Experience identifying missing instructions or sections and redundant or unnecessary sections of technical information.
- Strong detail orientation.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Professional Certifications:
None required
Clearance:
Must either have a completed and active background investigation at the Tier 1 low-risk level (formerly NACI) with a favorable adjudication or be able to pass a background investigation at the Tier 1 moderate-risk level.
Experience:
3 years of relevant experience
Citizenship Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Must be able to work in a team environment with personnel from other companies, government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members.
Working conditions, including location:
Remote
Client duty hours are Monday through Friday.
