Centralized Intake Specialist
Beacon Health Management operates 10 skilled nursing facilities in Iowa. We are seeking a Centralized Intake
Specialist to join our organization. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Business Development,
duties and responsibilities of the Centralized Intake Specialist will include:
• Responsible for reviewing and approving potential admissions clinically and financially
• Review, medical necessity, and communicating patient's payor source to center along with supporting
documentation
• Work with centers to verify benefits and secure authorizations for managed care services
• Communicate with regional and center personnel to obtain patient record and insurance information
needed to secure authorizations.
• Advocate for individual patient's health care needs when requesting authorizations from MCOs
• Respond to referral inquiry through multiple web-based portals and efaxes from hospital discharge
planners, families, and other referral sources.
• Maintain referral, admission, and discharge documentation for case management and authorization
purposes
• Be responsible for timely review, approval & communication of determination of potential admissions
clinically and financially to our skilled rehabilitation and nursing centers.
• Work with Admissions management team to improve and optimize the admission process at Aspire Health
Facilities in Iowa.
• Collaborate with facility administrators, directors of business development and nursing directors in order
to support admission needs at each location
• Provides VP of Business Development & Marketing, COO, VPOs, RDOs, Regional teams and Center teams
with information and feedback from the providers in the region.
• Coordinating the resident referral and approval process in an efficient manner
• Establishing & maintaining relationships with local hospitals, physicians & community organizations for the
purpose of generating consistent admissions to the facility
• Understand the admissions process including policy, procedures, assessments & paperwork requirements,
clinical criteria and financial verification process.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong Understanding of LTC Financial Verification Process
• Strong Understanding of LTC IA Medicaid Qualification/Requirements
• Strong assessment and organizational skills
• Ability to Multi-task and work under time constraints
• Proactive approach to intake management demonstrating leadership skills at all times
• Solid computer skills; working knowledge of PCC, EPIC, Ensocare, MS Office and CMR
• Knowledge of long-term care admission requirements
