The Driver Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance and well-being of a team of drivers within a transportation or logistics company. This role involves managing driver schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing support and guidance to drivers. The Driver Manager plays a crucial role in optimizing fleet operations, maintaining high levels of driver satisfaction, and ensuring efficient and timely deliveries.

The Driver Manager is a vital role within the transportation and logistics industry, ensuring the effective management and support of a team of drivers. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of transportation operations and regulations. The Driver Manager plays a key role in optimizing fleet performance, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Roles & Responsibilities

Driver Supervision and Support:

oManage and support a team of drivers, addressing their needs and concerns

oConduct regular check-ins with drivers to monitor performance and provide feedback

oAssist drivers in resolving any issues that arise during their routes

Scheduling and Dispatching:

oDevelop and maintain driver schedules to ensure optimal coverage and efficient routing

oCoordinate with dispatchers to assign drivers to routes based on availability and delivery requirements

oMonitor driver hours to ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations

Performance Management:

oTrack and analyze driver performance metrics, such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and safety records

oImplement performance improvement plans for drivers who do not meet company standards

oRecognize and reward drivers for exceptional performance

Safety and Compliance:

oEnsure all drivers adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements

oConduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for drivers

oInvestigate and address any incidents or accidents involving drivers

Communication:

oServe as the primary point of contact between drivers and the company

oCommunicate company policies, updates, and changes to drivers in a timely manner

oFacilitate effective communication between drivers and other departments, such as dispatch, customer service, and maintenance

Administrative Duties:

oMaintain accurate records of driver activities, including schedules, performance evaluations, and incident reports

oAssist in the recruitment and onboarding of new drivers

oPrepare and submit reports on driver performance and fleet operations to senior management

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

oAddress and resolve any issues that arise during deliveries, such as route changes, mechanical breakdowns, or delays

oMake informed decisions to ensure deliveries are completed efficiently and customer satisfaction is maintained

oImplement contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions

Requirements

Education:High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in transportation management or a related field is a plus

Experience:Previous experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management is preferred

Skills:

oStrong organizational and multitasking abilities

oExcellent communication and interpersonal skills

oProficiency with fleet management software and other relevant technology

oKnowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements

oProblem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions

Working Conditions:
