Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Team: Operations

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Temp)

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Direct Reports: None

Effective Date: June 2024

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing support for the day-to-day maintenance needs of the facilities. Responsibilities will include the completion of work orders, preventative maintenance, painting, and any other maintenance related queries and complaints as they arise.

Valid South Carolina driver’s license

For the Maintenance Technician

Valid South Carolina driver’s license

High School Diploma or equivalent experience in a related field

Must have 2+ years’ experience as a facilities technician

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.

Proficient in basic computer software such as MS Office, Outlook, and work order systems.

Must be able to multi-task, complete work orders in a timely manner, be driven, stay on task.

Must have a good knowledge of building maintenance.

Ability to troubleshoot and/or repair commercial office or industrial building systems to include electric, plumbing, HVAC.

Ability to work with little or no supervision on independent tasks but also able to work in a team environment.

Proficient in the use of hand and power tools related to the job.

Must have basic math skills, able to convert decimals to fractions, and use all units of measurement.

Must be able to read a tape measure and square to 1/32"

Ability to work independently with little direction.

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.

Ability to meet schedules and timelines.

Ability to maintain inventory, records, and prepare reports.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability and willingness to work safely in all weather conditions.

Ability to perform on-call duties as required.

Ability to display a professional image and attitude.

Ability to remain calm in an emergency.

Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders. Ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Work under the direction of the Facilities Manager to respond to building, grounds, vehicle maintenance, repairs, and improvements such as:
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Painting
  • Carpentry
  • and other maintenance related to the building structures and related systems.
  1. Oversee the janitorial conditions of OG facilities
  2. Report on status of ongoing projects
  3. Keep supply room organized, clean, and appropriately stocked
  1. Respond quickly and accurately to employee and/or resident concerns and emergency situations.
  2. Communicate effectively and frequently with the Facilities & Safety Manager
  3. Maintain maintenance data base/logs for both buildings and vehicles
  4. Maintain/recommend inventory regarding facility maintenance spare components.
  5. Prioritize day-to-day operations work orders, emergency, and preventative maintenance.
  6. Operates machines and tools necessary to complete assigned repairs.
  7. Maintains equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  8. Maintains vehicles in a condition that does not compromise safety.
