Position Overview:

The Senior Recruiter is responsible for all talent acquisition activities focusing on the identification and placement of Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVMs). The position also oversees the planning and guiding of talent needs and goals, thereby contributing to overall business success. In this role, the individual will enhance and develop the organization's ability to identify, attract and secure top talent.


To ensure success as a Senior Recruiter, the individual should be an experienced HR or veterinary medicine expert with a keen understanding of practices and processes involved in acquiring and nurturing talent in our industry. A top-notch Senior Recruiter will be an exceptional leader who leverages their knowledge and network to build the organization's potential.


KEY Areas of Focus:

Building Talent Pipelines: Creating and nurturing talent pipelines for both current and future DVM job openings. This involves proactively identifying potential candidates and maintaining relationships with them. Lead the development of Relief DVM sources and maintain key relationships to assist placement.

  • Sourcing Strategies: Lead all sourcing strategies. This includes determining the most effective channels for finding top talent.
  • Employer Branding: Shaping the company’s employer brand. Implementing online and offline branding activities to attract high-quality candidates.
  • Candidate Experience: Oversee all stages of the candidate experience, from application to interviews and communication to ensure a positive candidate journey.
  • Forecasting Hiring Needs: Based on business growth plans, forecast hiring needs. This strategic planning ensures the organization has the right talent at the right time.
  • Recruitment Events: Participate in and host recruitment events to raise awareness about the company.
  • Network Development: Build a network of potential future hires, including past applicants and referred candidates.
  • Metrics Measurement: Track key recruitment metrics to fuel guide decision-making. Manage and utilize company job posting and applicant tracking systems.

General Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full recruiting services including sourcing, interviewing, assessing and hiring of DVMs with focus upon Medical Director, Associate Veterinarian and Relief positions.
  • Develop research and sourcing techniques to maintain a consistent pipeline of DVM candidates.
  • Actively seek out potential candidates, conduct initial interviews, and maintain a talent database.
  • Build and manage relationships with vendor based and individual Relief Vet resources ensuring contract and licensing compliance
  • Ensure that talent acquisition projects fall in line with organizational objectives.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence and develop clear objectives for DVM talent acquisition.
  • Build relationships with key organizations, bodies, and institutes.
  • Participate in meetings with HR, hospital and company leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure the effective sourcing and retention of talent.
  • Produce regular reports on talent needs, acquisitions, and plans.
  • Present hiring, talent, and employment-related reports to members of the organization.
  • Serve as a constant contributor for areas of improvement in the recruiting process.

Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree in human resources, industrial psychology, or business management (or equivalent work-related experience)
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience working in veterinary (DVM) recruitment.
  • Full cycle recruiting expertise and familiarity with employer branding initiatives.
  • Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word and Excel) and Teams.
  • Proficiency in sourcing techniques, processes, tools and systems (including social networks).
  • Proficient at using software and leveraging technology for talent acquisition processes.
  • A thorough understanding of state and federal legal processes, requirements, and legislation.
  • Analytical mindset, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Skilled at negotiation, presentation, and execution.
  • Excellent at both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
