Position Overview: The Process Technician operates machines that perform one or more package filling functions.

Language Skills: English proficiency required. Spanish is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Amount of Travel Involved: None.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.
  • Sets up and ensures the proper operation of Crown Can Filler, Video Jet, and Filtec DUD Detector machines on Line 1.
  • Depresses pedal, presses button, or moves lever to clean or operate Crown Can Filler, Video Jet, and Filtec DUD Detector machines.
  • Trouble shoots system or machine issues and makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, turning on line lube, conveyors, nitrogen application, or clearing away damaged packaging.
  • Operates the bailing machine and removes bails of cardboard.
  • Operates the floor scrubber and cleans the floors.
  • Upon completion of production run and before start-up of a new flavor, clears the lines to ensure all containers of the previous flavor have been removed.
  • Sets up and operates Foamer to clean machines and area.
  • Notify Supervisor when material/package quality issues are observed.
  • Notify Supervisor/Maintenance of any equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Sets up and ensures the proper operation of Solbern Filler and Cryotech Injection Nitrogen System machines on Line 4 for both small and large cans.
  • Depresses pedal, presses button, or moves lever to clean or operate Solbern Filler and Cryotech Injection Nitrogen System.
  • Trouble shoots system or machine issues and makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, turning on line lube, conveyors, cables, nitrogen application, or clearing away damaged packaging.
  • Completes flavor changes on Can Line 4 for both small and large cans.
  • Sets up and ensures the proper operation of Bottle-US Bottler Filler, Sidel Sorter (Capper), Siligan Capper, Arol Capper, Siligan Vision DUD Detector, Canalyzer, Head Space Sterilizer, and X-Ray Scan Trac System machines on Line 3.
  • Checks for correct height setting and adjust head height for fill level, as needed.
  • Trouble shoots system or machine issues and makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, turning on line lube, conveyors, cables, or clearing away damaged packaging on bottle fillers.
  • Completes CIP for final rinse water sample.
  • Completes flavor changes on Bottle Line1 by removing cans from the Depalletizer before starting a new flavor.
  • Monitors production and completes paperwork.
  • Obtains samples and records pH and concentration.
  • Follow Cleaning in Place (CIP) and High Temperature, Short Time (HTST) processes on US Bottler Filler, Solbern Filler, and Crown Filler-Starblend Cold Fill at the end of production following specific work instructions and wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Performs tasks using a product push device (PIG) used to indicate the line is clear, and pipe devices to make connections (Jumper).
  • Performs pH, caustic, and acid level checks and completes documentation.
  • Completes cooler CIP (clean in place) for all production lines.
  • Removes and replaces circular paper record (Chart).
  • Identifies changeover to be made, acquires handling gear for next run, and completes changeover of parts on Bottle Lines 2 and 3.
  • Operates the pressure washer.
  • Completes charts and paperwork for the warmer and cooler CIP .
  • Obtains forklift certification.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) required.
  • 18 months of experience in a bottling facility preferred.
  • Has completed all stages necessary to achieve the Filler Operator I competencies.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
