Benefit type: Part-time, non-benefitted
Mandatory officials' introduction and training: the week of September 2nd. Specific time and date to be announced.
Season dates: Saturdays, September 14th - October 26th
Possible work locations include Big Sky Park, Fields at Pacific Crest, and Pine Nursery Park.
Whistles and officials' shirts are provided.
Compensation Paid per game, see table below
- Youth Double $18/game non-licensed $21.60/game licensed
- Youth Solo $27/game non-licensed $32.40/game licensed
- Adult Double $28/game non-licensed $33.60/game licensed
- Adult Solo $42/game non-licensed $50.40/game licensed
About the job:
Sports Officials provide officiating services to specific sports competitions. BPRD Sports Officials are responsible for providing an atmosphere of fun in a competitive, yet safe, environment.
A day in the life:
- Enforce/implement BPRD sports policies and playing rules to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness and players safety.
- Handle emergency situations as needed.
- Complete required reports/paperwork.
- Be aware of facility safety hazards and deal with them as quickly and efficiently as possible. If necessary, report safety hazards to supervisor.
- Communicate on a regular basis with coaches, participants, parent/guardians and district staff.
- Attend officials training clinics.
- Annually complete concussion training.
- Complete mandatory reporting training.
- Perform job-related duties as assigned.
What you’ll need for success:
Considerable Knowledge of:
Playing rules and regulations of soccer required to do the job and safety guidelines related to assignment.
Skill and Ability to:
- Apply and enforce playing rules of specific sport
- Exercise strong initiative and significant independent decision-making; demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
- Interact with a variety of patrons/participants; establish and maintain positive, respectful and cooperative relationships with all contacts.
What we’re looking for:
Experience and Training:
- At least 14 years old; AND
- Interest in sports
Selection Process:
Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training. An offer of employment is contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by Bend Park & Recreation District policies, including a background check and a driving history review when driving is required for position.
