The Data Analyst will be leading the design, execution, and presentation of a comprehensive assessment of the Navy’s force protection program, to include operational requirements; staffing levels; training; and facilities, systems, and equipment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is passionate about design thinking and making advanced analytics accessible to financial decision-makers.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Working with customer to establish study parameters, identify data sources, and collect necessary information
- Collaborating with data owners to ingest and understand information
- Building and refining models to develop short- and long-term projections
- Presenting findings and receiving/incorporating customer feedback
- Working with subject matter experts to conduct independent verification and validation (VV&A) of resultant model(s)
- Developing and executing strategies to capture data not available in currently available records
Required Qualifications:
- United States citizenship
- At least two (2) years of data analytics work experience involving independent project execution
- Bachelor’s degree or higher – technical discipline preferred (additional years of relevant professional experience + professional certification(s) may be substituted for degree)
- Experience developing analytic artifacts (models, dashboards) using Microsoft analytic tools including PowerBI, Access, and Excel
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams)
- One or more of the following professional certifications, or equivalent academic credential from an accredited college or university:
- Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
- CompTIA Data Analytics Plus certification
- Knowledge of/experience with the Department of Defense (DoD) programming, planning, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) process
- Knowledge of DoD Joint Base standards, policies, and budgeting
- Knowledge of federal and DoD personnel costing (e.g. fringe rates, programming rates, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills; comfortable presenting ideas to and soliciting feedback from customers
- Commitment to innovative problem solving and outstanding customer service
