Join the BrightStar Team as a Director of Nursing and Shine

Our Director of Nursing is responsible for leading the oversight of the delivery of care and overall quality for our local team. You would be responsible for providing direct patient care and conducting supervisory visits as needed. You will work closely with other members of the agency leadership team to ensure we are keeping the BrightStar Care promise – A higher standard of care.

Director of Nursing (DON) Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of care for the client, identification of all clients’ needs through the assessment process, and implementation of the plan of care and supervisory process.
  • Provide hands on patient care - conducting initial assessments, reassessments, performing infusions etc. You may fill in if other team members call out for their shift.
  • Effectively communicates with families, community partners and other health care providers to ensure adequacy of services provided and supervision of staff.
  • Reviews clinical and progress notes and summaries of care.
  • Compliance/Promotion of the standards of quality set forth by BrightStar Care® and the Joint Commission.
  • Compiling and maintaining data/files for Joint Commission surveys. Act as the primary point of contact for your office during Joint Commission surveys.
  • Oversees the maintenance of client clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
  • Responsible for evaluation and approval of monthly audits of client files, using the company provided audit forms.
  • Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers agency policies and procedures.
  • Ongoing assessment, skill, and competency review of the care staff to ensure quality care and high level of performance.
  • Supervises, educates, and coaches other nursing personnel/care-giving staff. Conducts annual performance reviews for nursing staff.
  • Plans and implements in-service and training programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring nurse/clinical oversight by delivering clinical orientation to all new hires and ensure all six company required competency tests are completed.
  • Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care. Shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
  • Promotes home care referrals in the health care community.
  • Joins the Business Development Manager in Living Room Visits for prospective clients to provide clinical guidance/assessment.

Registered Nurse (RN) Qualifications:

  • An unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state where care is provided.
  • Minimum of one year nursing experience.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical leadership experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong understanding of federal and state home health regulations; experience with Joint Commission a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License, Auto Insurance, BLS CPR card, and an up-to-date TB skin test or Chest X-Ray
  • Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull.
  • Must be able to lift or transfer up to 50 pounds.
