Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our team and contribute to the successful completion of various projects involving sheet metal fabrication and installation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of sheet metal work, blueprints, and HVAC systems, and possess expertise in cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components according to specifications.

Responsibilities:

1. Fabricate and install sheet metal products and components for various applications, including but not limited to HVAC ductwork, flashing, gutters, and architectural panels.
2. Interpret and accurately follow blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to ensure precise cutting, measuring, bending, and shaping of sheet metal materials.
3. Utilize a variety of tools and equipment skillfully and safely, including power shears, brakes, rollers, welding equipment, and hand tools, to perform necessary tasks.
4. Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets, using measuring and marking devices.
5. Connect and secure metal sheets and components by welding, bolting, riveting, or soldering methods, ensuring a strong and durable bond.
6. Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, making necessary adjustments and repairs when required.
7. Collaborate with fellow team members, including other tradesmen and contractors, to ensure timely project completion and compliance with specifications.
8. Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations at all times, identifying and addressing potential hazards or issues promptly.
9. Keep accurate records of labor, materials used, and hours worked on each project for reporting and validation purposes.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and technologies related to sheet metal work and HVAC systems to maintain a high level of expertise.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Sheet Metal Journeyman, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and skills in sheet metal fabrication and installation.
2. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and/or technical drawings related to sheet metal work.
3. Solid understanding of HVAC systems and the specifications and requirements for commercial and residential projects.
4. Experienced in operating and maintaining various tools and equipment used in sheet metal work, such as power shears, brakes, rollers, welding equipment, and hand tools.
5. Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in measuring, cutting, bending, and shaping metal sheet components.
6. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify issues and suggest effective solutions.
7. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
8. Exceptional physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various environments, including confined spaces, heights, and extreme temperatures.
9. Reliable and professional work ethic, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
10. Valid professional certification or license in sheet metal fabrication or related field preferred.
