Job Description

Client is seeking a highly skilled Network Operations Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in network services, experience with Mikrotik RouterOS, and proficiency in virtualization platforms such as VMware and Proxmox.

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement network changes to support the growing demands of our customer base while minimizing customer impact.
- Troubleshoot complex networking issues, focusing on Layer 2 networking and switching.
- Perform network planning and maintenance as directed by the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or Network Engineer.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are well-coordinated and documented promptly.
- Respond to Tier III Customer Support escalation requests requiring advanced troubleshooting.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation for the Technical Engineering team.
- Maintain exceptional written and verbal communication with team members and departments.
- Create and maintain ticketing and process documentation.
- Rotate between night and day shifts (4-month night, 8-month day) and participate in a 2-weekend on-call rotation every 8 weeks.
- Plan and execute network changes to minimize downtime.
- Configure equipment for scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
- Monitor network KPIs and recommend proactive network changes.
- Keep network systems secure by staying aware of publicly known vulnerabilities.
- Provide comprehensive and timely updates on network changes.
- Attend conferences and training opportunities as required.

Qualifications:
- Proficiency in network services (DNS, SNMP, RADIUS, TFTP, FIREWALL, etc.)
- Experience with Mikrotik RouterOS.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware & Proxmox).
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods and traverse stairs and uneven ground.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- Ability to work effectively during a night shift rotation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage work schedules and resource constraints.
