ENGINEER II – WATER & WASTEWATER
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Engineer with a focus on Water and Wastewater to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water distribution systems, water storage facilities, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, sewer collection systems, and sewer pump stations.
This role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary professionals on municipal, industrial, and commercial water and wastewater projects, performing technical analyses, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and optimizing system performance. The Engineer II will report to a Project Manager or Principal and will be responsible for developing impactful designs for various water and wastewater engineering projects.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- You earned a BS in civil engineering or a related field, and have at least six (6) years of relevant experience – or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Professional licensure (PE) is required
- You’re proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and/or other industry best programs, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite
- You are proficient in Hydro CAD, Sewer GEMS, Water GEMS or equivalent.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively both verbally and via written correspondence
- You have an aptitude for juggling multiple projects concurrently without losing sight of crucial details
- You can understand and carry out complex technical oral or written instructions
CORE DUTIES
- Develop designs for water and wastewater projects, including sanitary pump stations, waterlines, sewer systems, and treatment facilities. Perform technical analyses and calculations to ensure efficient and sustainable system performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplined teams including environmental scientists, surveyors, and other engineers to deliver comprehensive water and wastewater solutions for municipal, industrial, and commercial clients.
- Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards, including permitting and reporting requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, construction schedules, and feasibility studies to support the planning and execution of projects.
- Provide technical support during project construction, including reviewing plans, conducting site inspections, and resolving engineering issues. Mentor and support junior team members in developing their technical skills.
- Develop and review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure high-quality deliverables that meet client expectations and project objectives.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs, providing regular updates, and delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Delegate and provide oversight for the work assigned to Engineering Designers or interns

The rate for this position generally ranges between $78K-117K annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
