Job Title: Medical Assistant Specialist, in Cypress, Katy, Houston Area.

Full-Time 

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant Specialist performs administrative and clinical duties as they relate to ancillary services regarding patient care. They are responsible for maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for ancillary services, educating patients on their wellness and preventative measures that go along with the ancillary services, and working with the front office team to ensure the patient visit is thorough and completed consistently and accurately.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provides our patients exceptional care by providing information, services, and assistance. 
  • Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating. 
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of the visit. 
  • Prepares patients for ancillary testing (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Scan, Allergy Testing, Ankle Brachial Index, Autonomic Nervous System, Balance Test, Dexa Scan, Retinal Scan, and Sprimetry Test) 
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential. 
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. 
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt. 
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. 
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. 
  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements. 
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 

Education Requirements: 

 

  • High School diploma or GED required. 
  • Medical Assistant certification – preferred. 

 

Experience and Minimum Job Requirements: 

 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times. 
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized. 
  • Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies. 
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures, including injections. 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times. 
  • Team player. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

 

  • Thorough knowledge and experience in all aspects of patient records and commercial insurance. 
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and labor laws. 
  • Ability to communicate professionally and positively with providers, support and administrative staff, vendors, contractors, and the public. 
  • Skilled in organizing, multi-tasking, establishing priorities, and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Maintains patient and employee confidentiality, and knowledge of patient care protocols, procedures, regulations, and standards. 
  • Skill in the use of computers with a Windows based operating environment and EMR systems. 


Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation depends on your experience.
