The Spa Guest Service Coordinator for Trellis - The Spa at The Houstonian is the first friendly face that sets the tone for each guest's visit to the spa.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Welcoming guests and assisting them. Responsible for performing hair shampoo services in the manner trained by Trellis Spa. Direct all efforts toward guest satisfaction, the achievement and maintenance of Trellis Spa standards and profit maximization.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adhere to all standard policies and procedures and Texas Cosmetology laws.
  2. Perform all guest activities in a cordial, efficient and professional manner, at all times maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction.
  3. Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with management and fellow associates in all Houstonian departments. Help achieve our common goals of maximizing guest satisfaction and profit margins.
  4. Maintain a positive attitude towards co-workers and the job being performed.
  5. Report to work on time in a properly cleaned and pressed uniform. Hygiene is key in this environment due to the close proximity working with the clients. Employee scent should always remain neutral. Light make-up should be applied prior to arriving for your shift.
  6. Adhere to a professional relationship with clients of The Houstonian and Trellis Spa. Discussion of internal matters of any sort with clients is not permitted.
  7. Reports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Without exception performing Shampoo Techniques and Verbal Communication on every client you service.
  2. Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
  3. Perform all services for which training has been received in the allotted period and without personal interpretation of the treatment application.
  4. Perform shampoo services as instructed by hairdresser and any service listed on our spa menu administered by a shampoo technician.
  5. Refill products in the work carts or shampoo rack used for the day, and clean the dispensary in the back room of the salon.
  6. Include a head and neck massage with every service.
  7. Maintain all shampoo areas in a sanitary condition.
  8. Actively promote the spa, treatments, services, sessions and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
  9. Retail Sales are a requirement and a part of the guests continued home care.
  10. Promote home care programs.
  11. Keep work area neat and clean at all times, personal items should never be visible.
  12. Keep work area stocked with sufficient supplies for a full day of operation.
  13. Clean equipment and common areas used after performing each service.
  14. Fold towels and linens for use in the service areas.
  15. Inform managers of ways to improve overall operation of the spa, your working experience and the comfort of our guests.
  16. Assist other departments whenever necessary.
  17. Attend all training sessions, learning new techniques to be used in the performance of the job.
  18. Maintain current certifications/licenses to be displayed in your room, a copy with the Spa. It is the technician’s responsibility to never allow this license to expire. If this happens, immediate suspension without pay will be necessary.
  19. Perform any reasonable tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager.
  20. Attend all staff meetings.
  21. Clock in and out at every shift.
  22. Report any maintenance problems throughout the spa to the proper authority.
  23. Promote self as well as other Spa, Hotel and Club affiliates and services.
  24. Support fellow staff members by noticing how they are feeling and providing compassion.
  25. Must maintain client and spa business confidentiality/privacy at all times.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  1. The Spa functions 12-16 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. All employees must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to change an associate from their usual shift as business needs change.
  2. At times due to lack of business, it may be necessary to reduce work hours.
  3. The Spa is currently open to guests from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Wednesday and from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday through Sunday. This may change based on business needs.
  4. Report to work on time for your scheduled shifts.
  5. Weekend work schedules are a part of this position.

PREREQUISITES:

  1. Must speak fluent English.
  2. Prior Spa experience is ideal, prior experience in a customer-oriented atmosphere, preferably a hospitality field.
  3. All certifications will be displayed in the hair salon area. A copy will be filed with the Spa.
  4. Must be a certified and licensed shampoo technician in the State of Texas.
  5. Must have previous experience.
  6. Must be able to deal with people in a professional manner under pressure.
  7. Must be flexible in work scheduling.
  8. Must be able to perform some strenuous physical labor (lifting boxes and laundry).
  9. Confidentiality with co-workers and clients regarding ANY in-house practices is a must.
  10. Professional appearance.
  11. Must be dignified: treat people at all times with courtesy and respect, trustworthy: be completely honest in all interactions with others, accountable: stand behind the work you do, friendly: show compassion and respect.
