The Vault Teller Supervisor position encompasses all aspects of currency and coin processing. This role is aligned to assist the Vault Operations Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the cash and coin vault tellers. The Vault Teller Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the secure, efficient, and accurate handling of currency and coin. This role involves supervising the counting, sorting, and packaging of currency and coin, maintaining detailed inventory records, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and legal regulations. The Vault Teller Supervisor is also responsible for assisting in training and mentoring staff, assisting with audits, and addressing any discrepancies or security issues that arise. This position reports directly to the Vault Operations Manager.


  • Assist the Vault Operations Manager in overseeing daily operations of the cash vault and the supervision of a team of vault tellers.
  • Schedule and assign duties to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow to meet customer deadlines.
  • Monitor teller performance, provide regular feedback to the Vault Operations Manager.
  • Assist the Vault Operations Manager in hiring, performance evaluations and any disciplinary matters when necessary.
  • Ensure accurate counting, sorting, and packaging of cash and valuables.
  • Verify the authenticity and quality of currency and coins.
  • Verify the accurate transfer of containers to/from the CIT division ensuring FRB standards are adhered to.
  • Verify the accurate daily balancing and auditing of vault inventories.
  • Assist the Vault Operations Manager in resolving any discrepancies in cash handling and processing.
  • Monitor, clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
  • Train new vault tellers on operational procedures, security protocols, and company policies.
  • Mentor and support staff to improve their skills and efficiency.
  • Enforce strict security measures to protect cash valuables and data.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address any security vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain detailed records of all transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Prepare regular reports on vault activities, discrepancies, and overall performance.
  • Ensure all records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Assist Vault Operations Manager to address and resolve customer inquiries and issues related to all vault operations.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through professional and courteous service.
  • Provide timely and professional written and verbal communication with customers and coworkers.
  • Monitor and assist in managing inventory of cash handling supplies.
  • Monitor and assist in managing inventory of coin processing supplies.
  • Track and order office supplies as needed.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cash handling, banking operations, or a cash vault environment.
    • Previous supervisory experience in a CIT or similar setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proficient in cash handling procedures and security protocols.
    • Time management skills.
    • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations professionally.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
    • Ability to learn industry specific software.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications in cash handling or security management are a plus.
  • Working Conditions:
    • The position requires working in a highly secure environment with strict access controls.
    • The job involves standing for long periods and handling large volumes of currency and coin. This position also demands the ability to walk, bend, squat, left, climb etc.
    • May require working early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must pass a background check and drug screening
    • Ability to lift and transport heavy bags or boxes of currency/coin as needed (up to 60lbs).
    • Good ethics and integrity.
