STATUS: FULL-TIME (EXEMPT)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aquatics Manager is responsible for preparing the area for the day's demands, supervising waterpark attendants, completing daily reports, submitting accident reports when applicable, and enforcing facility rules.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Directly aligns with the SMPA Mission Statement and Core Values
  • Leads and coordinates the organizational and administrative aspects of all aquatics programming
  • Hires, trains, and evaluates lifeguards
  • Ensures lifeguard staffing, coverage and job duties are compliant with all required standards & regulations
  • Helps effectively manage the aquatics membership base
  • Provides effective leadership and direction to the Aquatics Team
  • Conducts and/or assigns lifeguard performance evaluations
  • Assists with conducting aquatics safety audits and reporting
  • Compiles statistics for the activities each week and reports on fluctuations in attendance
  • Manages equipment inventory and helps establish a reporting process for that inventory
  • Coordinates requests for equipment usage and pool space with Guest Services and other applicable team members
  • Ensures all incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provides supervision on evenings, weekends, and during special events as needed
  • Conducts ongoing training and evaluation programs for lifeguards
  • Grows revenue, memberships and attracts local swim meets
  • Completes other duties as assigned by leadership and/or General Manager

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

  • Current Certified Pool Operator certification is preferred
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • Current American Red Cross Basic Lifeguard Instructor certified and/or Water Safety Instructor, or equivalent is preferred
  • Proven success in generating community interest and involvement through sporting events
  • Experience in swimming events as a consumer or other relevant experience
  • Experience in managing staff in order to effectively execute a successful event and/or program
  • Experience and success in customer service, leadership, and team building
  • Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years' experience of aquatics management is preferred
  • Experience or general knowledge in supervising and training lifeguards or a related area of recreation
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must have strong leadership skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast paced environment

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions
  • The Team Member could be exposed to cleaning chemicals
