Purpose:

The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting with a variety of HR functions across the organization with a focus on benefits administration, health and wellness programs, leave administration, performance management, talent acquisition, and overall positive employee engagement. The HR Generalist reports to the Manager of Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs by assessing benefit needs and trends; recommend benefit programs to leadership; design and conduct educational programs on benefits

  • Coordinate benefit enrollment process for new hires and employees with qualifying events

  • Prepare and support benefit open enrollment process annually including system setup in HRIS

  • Coordinate administration of FMLA/LOA process including obtaining appropriate documentation and determination outcome

  • Manage the HRIS System, and partner with HRIS on system improvement initiatives

  • Manage the onboarding process, including induction to the HRIS system, coordination and delivery of employee orientation, and new hire benefit enrollments

  • Assist with the offboarding process including conducting exit interviews, coordinating equipment return and administering the COBRA process

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance

  • Assist in the administration of annual performance review processes through the HRIS system

  • Assist in the coordination of staffing and recruitment based on current and future operational needs

  • Serve as the first point of contact for any HR related questions, providing expert advice

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field  

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources related experience, with an emphasis in employee benefits administration 

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefit plan design, policies, and regulations 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software 

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field  

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential
