Adult Advocate

HOPE is dedicated to ending domestic violence by providing a wide range of services for victims and facilitating social change. We are currently seeking a full-time Adult Advocate role within our Charleston office. This position is responsible for providing advocacy and supportive counseling services for adult clients.

Adult Advocate

Job Description:

Exempt. Full-time position. Flexible hours to maintain adult advocacy services. May include weekend hours. The Adult Advocate is directly responsible to the Director of Advocacy.

Responsibilities:
1.Provide counseling and legal advocacy as needed
2.Provide transportation
3.Assist with the development and implementation of safety plans
4.Assist with the development and implementation of goal plans
5.Document all interaction with clients
6.Implement and monitor agency’s policies and procedures to assure client safety
7.Cover hotline and provide back-up services, as necessary
8.Complete client intake
9.Participate in the on call rotation
10.Provide child care as needed
11.Assist with group counseling as directed
12.Assist with fundraisers
13.Office duties such as filing, answering phones, and greeting the public
14.Participate in other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. Must possess the ability to work with clients in crisis situations. Knowledge of social services in our seven-county area. Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills. Willing to work flexible hours. Must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance coverage. Forty-hour domestic violence training is required and will be provided. Must sign a confidentiality form indicating that the privacy of HOPE clients, staff and volunteers will be maintained. Must also be able to pass a background check.
