Position Title: Engineering Intern

 

General Position Description:

Mission Focused Systems Inc. (MFS) is looking for a highly self-motivated college student, currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science related discipline.

Interns will gain on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, while participating in various activities in the assigned disciplines. The internship may be extend based on exemplary performance, department need, and available funding.

 

Job Description:

Mission Focused Systems, Inc. provides agile engineering and technical services used successfully by our team while working with complex space, C4ISR, and enterprise information, systems and system-of-systems across the DoD and Intelligence Community. Opportunities exist for successful candidates to support the MFS engineering team:

  • Implementing agile engineering and project management approaches that accelerate the delivery of mission capability within cost, schedule, and risk budgets while ensuring the technical baseline is sound and deliverable.
  • Supporting our Combatant Commands and Military Service clients with an aggressive but balanced research engineering, experimentation & prototyping approach to identify, vet, and accelerate promising solutions.
  • Engineering robust, resilient, and sustainable cyber defenses in an increasingly connected and contested information domain.
  • Enhancing MFS business solutions, improving corporate operating efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • At the time you submit your application, you must be enrolled in an accredited university Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science related discipline degree program.
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must enjoy group problem solving and technical discussions while effectively working in a team environment towards solving complex problems.
  • Must be able to focus on the complete product and the full life cycle of the product.

Must possess the willingness to proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance and develop implementable solutions.

  • No previous experience is necessary.

 

Desired Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates willing to apply engineering practices and skills relevant to their assigned areas of interest. Successful candidates must be prepared to receive on-the-job training to acquire the ability to perform at professional level standards and develop relevant engineering skills.

We are seeking individuals who will work with professional, technical, and public safety staff and:

  • Are highly organized and detailed-oriented to successfully navigate complexity.
  • Are motivated, learners who are team-oriented but, can work independently.
  • Are open to feedback and can conduct themselves professionally.
  • Willing to assist staff in the preparation of plans and in compiling and preparing technical, and statistical data in the form of reports, graphs, maps, and charts; may assist in field work and collecting data.
  • Willing to assist staff with various technical and non-technical activities.
  • Can effectively interact with co-workers, supervisors and managers, representatives from other divisions and/or departments, and the public; speak clearly and effectively, answer questions, express ideas, and explain work-related information to others.
  • Can listen and understand verbal instructions and use the appropriate terms when referring to technical matters; complete basic records and forms in a manner that is clear and easily understood. It also includes the ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Think critically through their work and continuously recommend improvements.
  • Comfortable using professional judgment to provide engineering and technology solution alternatives.
  • Comfortable with research and formulating potential solutions and/or courses of action.

 

Location: Royersford, PA

 

Travel Anticipated: 10% or less

 

Timing: Spring/Summer 2024
