Shift Times: Friday-Sunday's 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM. (Permanent Overnight/Weekend shift)
Key Responsibilities of the Veterinary Technician
- Provide nursing care and support to hospitalized patients during overnight shifts and weekends.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and post-operative recovery.
- Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as blood draws, catheter placement, and radiographs.
- Assist veterinarians with surgeries, anesthesia monitoring, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient treatments and observations. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding patient status, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and sterilization of surgical and treatment areas. Assist with client communication and provide compassionate customer service.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise to be Successful
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital setting, with experience in emergency or critical care preferred.
- Proficiency in veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Compassion for animals and dedication to their well-being.
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
