Job Title: Structural Steel EstimatorJob Location: Waco, TXWork Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday, 7 AM to 11:30 AMJob Type: Direct Hire/Permanent Placement
Job Summary:The Structural Steel Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with structural steel projects. This role involves reviewing project plans and specifications, determining material quantities, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review Project Documents:
    • Analyze and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine material and labor requirements.
  2. Material Quantity Takeoff:
    • Accurately quantify and calculate the required materials, including steel beams, columns, connections, and other related components.
  3. Cost Estimation:
    • Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for structural steel projects, considering material costs, labor costs, overheads, and profit margins.
  4. Vendor and Subcontractor Quotations:
    • Obtain and analyze quotes from steel suppliers, subcontractors, and other vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and provide value engineering suggestions when necessary.
  6. Bid Preparation:
    • Prepare and submit comprehensive and competitive bids for structural steel projects within specified deadlines.
  7. Maintain Records:
    • Keep accurate records of all estimates, quotations, and communications related to each project.
  8. Cost Analysis:
    • Conduct post-bid analysis to evaluate the accuracy of estimates and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in structural steel estimating.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
