GIS Technician

Job Responsibilities:

• Navigate and manage cloud-based software, tools, and file systems using Windows 11.
• Utilize Esri ArcGIS suite of software to create, import, edit, and manage spatial data from different file types (e.g., GDB, DWG, SHP, XLSX, CSV).
• Performs occasional field work to collect and/or validate data using GIS hardware and software.
• Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying and addressing issues, communicating daily with leadership to resolve problems, and providing routine feedback on QA/QC processes.
• Effectively prioritize tasks and resources to meet project deadlines, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of assignments.
• Apply design principles and attention to detail for accurate and easy to interpret maps and visualizations.
• Research and acquire GIS data from public sources and communicate data quality and relevance to teams/leads.

Job Qualifications:

• 4-year degree from an accredited institution in GIS or a related field, or
• 2-year certificate from an accredited institution in GIS or GIST, or
• 1-3 years of work-related experience

Skills/Proficiencies:

• Proficient in Esri ArcGIS suite
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Windows 11
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in field occasionally
• Organization skills & ability to prioritize tasks
• Cartographic design or graphic design
• Research skills & attention to detail
