Prekindergarten Teacher

2) Basic Functions

A teacher in this role assists the director in planning and carrying out a daily program for students in their class.

Work includes team planning of activities to promote the educational, social, and emotional well-being of the students in care.

Teachers carry out group and individual activities.


3) Duties

Teachers treats students and parents in a warm, welcoming manner at all times.

Teachers assists group supervisors or director in planning daily activities for children in care and implements these consistently with assigned group.

Teachers are able to ensure health and safety of students by knowledge of accident prevention and health policies as well as ability to interact fully with students and intervene in potential problem situations.

Teachers are able to work with students individually and in groups.

Teachers maintain materials and equipment.

Teaches maintain cleanliness and general order of assigned area, and participates in cleaning schedule.

Teachers supervise and participates in all activities with students, indoors and outdoors.

Teachers are able to work on a cooperative basis with all members of staff.

Teachers provide supervision for child care aides in performance of duties in absence of group supervisor or director.

Teachers are responsible to supervisory staff. Consults supervisory staff on problems or concerns.

Teachers are able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Teachers respect confidentiality of each students and their family.

Teachers perform any other related work as required.

Teachers always adhere to the Child Development Council's philosophy and state regulatory guidelines in approach to children and job.


4) Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

Teachers are able to walk, run, sit, stand, and stoop to provide maximum interaction with students for their safety and development.

Teachers are able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Bachelors Degree in Education

PA Teaching License at the PreK Level
