Job Description:

The Oil and Gas Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of our manufacturing and E&P businesses. This role requires a thorough understanding of the oil and gas industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple sets of books for different business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:
  • Maintain and manage the general ledger for multiple business units, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for both the manufacturing and E&P divisions.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business planning and decision-making processes.
  • Cost Accounting:
  • Implement and maintain cost accounting systems to track production costs, inventory valuation, and profitability analysis.
  • Conduct variance analysis and report on cost deviations, providing actionable insights to management.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings, royalty calculations, and environmental reporting.
  • Stay updated on industry-specific accounting standards and regulatory changes.
  • Audit and Reporting:
  • Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documentation.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports, presenting findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve financial controls.
  • Implement best practices and automation solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance specific to the oil and gas sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
