Georgia Maintenance Tech

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for optimizing production uptime, cycle time, and yield by properly fabricating, installing, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and machinery as well as maintaining the building, facilities, and grounds.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute quality work utilizing established safety and maintenance procedures.
• Generate and maintain files for all required logs and reports.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose irregularities and malfunctions on equipment prior to making repairs.
• Complete any job requested by the Manufacturing Manager or other member of management, including those not specifically contained in this description.
• Demonstrate willingness and availability to work any/all shifts as required.
• Demonstrate willingness and availability to work voluntary or mandatory overtime as required, including overtime on short notice.
• Assemble, install, align, maintain, and repair all production equipment as required.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and equipment by using hand tools, including but not limited to hammers, levels, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and drills.
• Drive lift trucks and other powered equipment used in material handling.
• Conduct regular testing of plant safety equipment, including but not limited to exit signs, fire extinguishers, and the sprinkler system.
• Maintain all work areas, the maintenance shop, equipment, machines, and tools in a clean, orderly condition.
• Wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) as required and adhere to all safety protocols.
• maintenance departments are met and adhered to at all times.
• Ensure that all manufacturing and maintenance personnel adhere to company policies.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two years of maintenance-related experience in manufacturing/warehousing environment.
• Basic electrical knowledge/experience is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating, training and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
• Possession and use of appropriate interpersonal skills that create positive interaction among superiors, peers, departments and shifts.
• Ability to communicate effectively and convey needed information to the plant manager concerning status of plant equipment, and performance.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct subordinate discipline in a fair and consistent manner when required.
• Strong technical knowledge and positive leadership skills with demonstrated ability to convey such to manufacturing/maintenance floor staff resulting in a positive work environment.
• Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to tolerate stress.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs.
• Must be able to accomplish and withstand frequent bending.
• Must be able to accomplish and withstand frequent climbing.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
