About this Role

Tool Room Attendant is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking for entry level positions. Our machines help produce thousands of our dispensing products each day. So, it’s important to keep them running efficiently and continuously. The Tool Room Attendant ensures the quality of our incoming tools, keeps the Tool Room sufficiently stocked and ensures accurate record keeping. This allows the Tool Room department to be prepared in assisting in the production of our products. Here’s a list of duties that our Tool Room Attendant performs on a typical day:

• Measure, store, and log in incoming tooling.
• Examine incoming product for aesthetic and functional defects.
• Compare product with component standards or engineering specifications to ensure conformity.
• Reject defective materials and notify supplier or appropriate departments.
• Purchase spare tooling per Engineering requests. (We will train the right candidate in SAP purchasing data base).
• Follow-up on purchase orders; check on quoted lead times versus actual delivery times.
• Data entry as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Candidates must have:

• High School Education.
• Strong work ethic.
• Strong ability to work without supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Blueprint Reading.

Preferred Candidates will have:

• Must possess basic machine troubleshooting skills.
• Must posses basic blueprint reading skills.
• Must be capable of using basic measuring equipment, micrometers, verniers, comparator, etc.
• Some quality and/or toolroom background preferred.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Molding, tool room, or fabrication shop experience

Physical Demands (Reasonable accommodations provided):

• Ability to lift 35 lbs.

• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.

• Physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination and grasping.
