Do you have automotive or engine experience? Do you enjoy collaborating technically with a team? Are you customer focused and detail oriented? Our service department is growing and looking to add a Service Writer to the team

Responsibilities:

  • Provide estimates for service work recommended by our technicians daily.
  • Consult with Field Service Managers as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmentally to ensure timely turnaround of parts needed for Service work.
  • Ensure Service Repair (SR) jobs are quoted within a timely manner.
  • Communicate needed repairs with customers.
  • Follow up on estimates and track progress.
  • Work with Customer Service/Service Operations Manager to track discrepancies within service repair quotes.
  • Attend weekly Service Writers meetings.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Extensive computer experience (proficient with Microsoft suite, etc).
  • Knowledge of generator services, diesel engine repair, oil changes, and recommended maintenance.
  • Research and source required parts needed.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years technical service writing experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport with customers and team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively
  • Desired skills:
    • Diesel engine experience (assembly/disassembly)
    • Knowledge of safe service repair for generators and heavy equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • On-site position
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
