Job description:

The Clerk’s overall function is to be the initial contact point for visitors entering the school. The Clerk provides a warm and confident image of the school to students, teachers, staff and visitors. The Clerk supports the students, teachers and staff by answering phone calls, greeting students and visitors, coordinating dismissal, and performing a variety of administrative tasks. The Clerk supports the Principal by coordinating meetings, preparing correspondence and performing other administrative tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain a welcoming and efficient front office that is organized and professional
  • Greet students and visitors warmly and professionally.
  • Responsible for administering student entrance and exit procedures.
  • Be attentive, patient and fair with students and treat parents as valued and respected stakeholders.
  • Assist students and others with routine matters and refer non-routine matters to the operations manager or other appropriate supervisor.
  • Gather and make morning and afternoon announcements and coordinate early dismissal of students according to school procedures.
  • Answer telephones and direct callers appropriately.
  • Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines.
  • Prioritize and perform a variety of administrative tasks according to the needs of the day.
  • Coordinate operational communication with management, Building Engineer, and other appropriate personnel using walkie-talkies.
  • Coordinate meeting space, catering, and other meeting needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Work Experience: 1 year of clerical experience preferred.

  • Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites.
