Plating Superintendent

Purpose/Summary

A Plating Supervisor guarantees that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows.  They must be competent and comprehend complex operations. They should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.  The goal is to ensure that plating processes deliver products of maximum quality in a safe and profitable manner.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

• Enforce safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job
• Enforce quality policies and procedures to ensure customer product satisfaction
• Maintain open lines of communication between employees, management and human resources
• Oversees on the job training of new hires and transfers
• Oversees the adherence of standardized work
• Reports injuries sustained on the job to appropriate department/manager.
• Make sure all lines running with in specification – Mechanical
• Make sure all add backs are being done as per lab recommendation
• Daily meeting with associates for updates and planning
• Walk all the lines twice a shift at minimum and also as needed – 14 lines
• Make sure dumps and renewals are done as prescribed by the lab or as needed and chemicals are available to do that in advance
• Check on Waste Treatment and their needs
• Address special issues on floor like Decanting of baths, hoist issue
• Required to take and pass NASF Plating essentials training within 18 months of hire

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

• 4+ years’ manufacturing plant experience
• Previous experience in a supervisory capacity a +
• High School Graduate
• Associate or higher degree a +

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Ability to create and follow schedules
• Organization skills and willingness to assume accountability for plant practices required
• Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• QAD experience a +
   

Supervisory Responsibilities

            This position has direct supervisory responsibility.  It will provide the team with direction and guidance to ensure projects are prioritized and planning processes provided are in place to ensure project deadlines are achieved. 

Physical Demands/Environment

            While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand walk/move; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.
