Interim IT Director- Confidential

American Consultants has an Interim IT Director position for a confidential client. They are launching an IT restructure and need someone that can bring them across the finish line on time and on budget.

Job Summary:

  1. Reinforces values, promotes Compliance Plan and demonstrates proficiency in understanding of training materials and applicable laws and standards.
  2. Completes the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs and ensures department employees complete their required education (in a timely manner) according to facility policies.
  3. Assists the Compliance Officer and the Executive Compliance Committee in identifying "high risk" issues within his/her department.
  4. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
  5. Responsible and accountable for internal and/or external customer service scores.
  6. Direct, control and plan the operations of the Information Systems department.
  7. Serving as a contact for the Meditech Applications Consultant on a regular basis for new software, training, updates and any other major issues.
  8. Determining the equipment needs for the Information System department and other departments and ordering equipment.
  9. Test and oversee the testing of all software updates/new releases of all modules of computer software.
  10. Monitoring storage analysis for each module usage and growth habits and making decisions as to overall system growth habits and adding storage to meet the need.
  11. Tracking all reported problems, enhancement request and system change request.
  12. Assist in the orientation and skill development of new staff members, as required.
  13. Maintain user access menus in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  14. Maintain audit files of patients PHI and check for HIPAA violations.
  15. Serving as security officer for hospital for HIPAA regulations.
  16. Ensuring regulatory reporting of patient PHI to state in a timely manor.
  17. Working with system analysts to assure that a consistent approach is followed throughout the Hospital Information System.
  18. Ensuring proper backup of systems for disaster recovery.
  19. Work with hospital management and department heads to enlist their help and support for acceptance, expansion and increased sophistication of computer systems.
  20. Does not excessively use the hospital's sick leave allowance.

Minimum Education

B.S. in Computer Science (Management Information Systems) or equivalent experience (installing and managing computer information systems: end user training and problem solving in hospital environment).

Minimum Work Experience

Three years of management experience.

Masters in healthcare or related field preferred.
