Position: Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse
Location: Edison, NJ
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for neonates in our state-of-the-art NICU. You will work collaboratively with physicians, fellow nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for our vulnerable patients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of neonates to identify their needs and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement therapeutic interventions and closely monitor patients' responses.
- Manage all aspects of patient care, including medication administration, ventilator management, and other specialized procedures.
- Document patient care meticulously and accurately in accordance with established standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate and support families of neonates, providing emotional support and guidance.
- Stay current with evidence-based practices and innovations in NICU care.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements:
- Active and unencumbered RN License in New Jersey or a multi-state compact license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a NICU RN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the AHA.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based practice.
- Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience stabilizing babies in the Labor & Delivery unit.
- Familiarity with working in a fast-paced, critical care environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor when working with newborns and their families.
Schedule
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required (1 shift per season)
- No on-call requirement
