Putnam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a 160-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center that has been trusted by families to care for their loved ones. The ideal candidate will be responsible for functions such as recruitment efforts, new hire orientation and onboarding, employee termination, employee relations and labor relations, benefits, and company policy and procedure adherence. In addition, you will build strong relationships with our company's managers in order to help them with their human resource needs.

  • Human Resources Manager manages full-cycle of recruitment efforts
  • Human Resources Manager develops and oversees new hire orientation, onboarding efforts and offboarding/employee termination process
  • Human Resources Manager prepares and maintains all employee personnel files
  • Coordinates orientation, welcome, explanation of facility policies and procedures, conducts HR In-services.
  • Human Resources Manager assists with payroll and benefits administration
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and legal. Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures ensuring all policies and procedures are in accordance with federal, state and local statutes.
  • Human Resources Manager develop subsequent amendments and updates to Employee Handbook as required in accordance with federal, state and local statutes.
  • Manages employee leaves including but not limited to claims in the nature of, Disability, Long term Disability, FMLA, Paid Family Leave, Workman's Compensation, etc.
  • Human Resources Manager conducts pre-employment screening, including credential verification, OIG exclusion checks, nurse aide registry, references and criminal background checks. Including ensuring fingerprinting is conducted within DOH guidelines and maintain all CHRC records and results in a confidential manner.
  • Participation in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement for facility
  • Tracking of Incident/Accident reports for staff and Yearly OSHA reports
  • Provide general administrative support such as preparing correspondence, forms and reports, processing confidential reports and documents, filing electronic and hard copy, tracking deadlines, and taking down minutes as needed.
  • Enter all new hire data, change of statuses into HRIS system and ensure data integrity.
  • Benefit enrollment for eligible employees and Annual Open Enrollment for medical and dental insurance
  • Answers employees inquiries on HR matters such as: benefits and company policies and processes employee requests
  • Attend all labor management meetings with 1199 SEIU as required. Ensure compliance with 1199 SEIU collective bargaining agreement in notification of all suspensions and terminations and adhering to requirements. Attend all grievance hearings and submit timely dispositions based on 1199 SEIU collective bargaining agreement.
  • Handle employee counseling, warnings, suspensions and terminations in conjunction with administration and dept. heads.
  • Assist with complaint investigations as necessary.
  • Communicate and provide day to day guidance to Management and staff on recruitment, employee relations and all HR issues.
Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate for this position has some Human Resources experience, excellent organizational, customer and time management skills, and the ability to address time sensitive duties in an efficient fashion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with HRIS and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to provide excellent group presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local employment laws. Thorough understanding of all ERISA, EEO and AA regulations and requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. High School Diploma with appropriate relevant years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree requirements.
  • 3-5 years of human resource experience in a comparably sized company preferably Long-Term Care.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus
