Job Summary:

SBM Life Science is seeking a Operations Excellence Engineer to join a dynamic team dedicated to innovation and excellence. This role will oversee the efficient flow of goods and analyze the cost of goods sold to optimize costs and improve profitability. The Operations Excellence Engineer will play a crucial role in quality management, manufacturing optimization, and maximizing the bottom-line impact while also collaborating effectively with various departments within SBM to ensure we are achieving company goals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Operations Optimization:

  • Analyze current processes and profitability and identify opportunities for operating performance improvements
  • Develop and implement various data-driven strategies to streamline the supply chain and manufacturing processes.
  • Review manufacturing value streams for opportunities derived from SBM formula, material, and packaging changes and drive the changes to completion
  • Develop Value stream maps for SBM products that are actionable for optimization

Project Management:

  • Manage continuous improvements projects that focus on fulfillment, internal manufacturing, external tolling, systems optimization, and freight
  • Collect and analyze financial data related to COGS reporting, manufacturing variances, and overhead expenses
  • Develop and ensure metrics are in place to track progress for budget and completing projects in a timely manner
  • Develop timelines and hold the business accountable for execution deliverables

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in various departments to gather data to stay informed on lawn and garden best practices and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide high level solutions and guidance to support the implementation of operational excellence initiatives
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders to provide operational insights and support decision-making processes
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute suggestions and solutions for process improvement and best practices
  • Provide guidance of best-in-class solutions to new product development teams and R&D that can be incorporated into new product launches

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or related field required
  • MBA highly preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in process improvement, operations, or related field
  • Experience managing various projects and prioritizing tasks
  • Proven experience applying improvement solutions through Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, or PDCA
  • Advanced Excel experience with pivot tables, v-look up, and formulas
  • Previous ERP experience required; SAGE use is a plus

Travel Requirements:

This role requires frequent travel to our Manufacturing plant in Pasadena, TX, toll manufactures, and other suppliers about 25% of the time. Possible overnight travel me also be expected. There will be compensation for travel accordingly to company policy.
