Job DescriptionJob Description

Room attendants keep the inside of the hotel's guestrooms and suites clean, report maintenance and safety problems and perform special cleaning tasks as assigned by management.

Compensation:

$17 - $18 per hour

Responsibilities:
  • For the guestroom clean walls, floors, ceilings, drapes, doors, door frames, windows, window frames, shelves, closets, refrigerators, lighting fixtures, furniture, rest- room fixtures and all other fixtures. Cleaning activities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, scrubbing, sanitizing, straightening, etc.
  • Replenish guest-room supplies, such as soap, shampoo, glassware, note pads, pens, pencils, stationery, printed materials, hangers.
  • Remove soiled bath and bed linens and replace them with clean linens.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings as directed by management.
  • Restock room-attendant carts with supplies.
  • Clean departmental equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, and carts.
  • Report to management all comments from customers and visitors that affect the hotel's image or services.
  • Review and adhere to all manuals and other policy updates.
  • Greet hotel guests.
  • Report to the maintenance department and Management rooms that require repairs and/or should be placed out of service.
  • Respond helpfully to guests' special requests.
  • Assist the laundry attendant with his or her duties as needed.
  • Return found property to the housekeeping supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Education: There are no special educational requirements for this position.
  • Proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.
  • Language Skills: Able to understand basic supervisory instructions, training and guest requests in English.
  • Have access to a personal automobile, public transportation or car-pool or lives within walking distance of the hotel.
  • There is no special travel requirement for this position.
  • Equipment Skills: Able to operate equipment used for hotel housekeeping, such as vacuum cleaners.
  • Personal Skills and Characteristics: Highly motivated. Have good initiative, work habits, attention to detail and flexibility.
  • Work Experience: Have been employed where adherence to prescribed work procedures, attendance and work habits were required.
  • Safety and Health Knowledge: Knowledgeable on the Company's safety, security and health policies as they apply to housekeeping operations.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Knowledge: Understands our policies on service to all guests having disabilities, and is able to answer guest questions for information on special services available for disabled guests.

Physical Requirements: Able to safely lift and carry 45 pounds for moving carts, furniture, equipment, trash and large amounts of laundry and for evacuating hotel guests and performing other emergency procedures. Able to bend, kneel and squat for performing cleaning tasks and for moving equipment, supplies and laundry. Able to reach fully to the front, sides and overhead for making beds, moving laundry, supplies and equipment and for performing various cleaning duties. Able to wear safety clothing and equipment, such as protective eyewear and gloves. Able to safely work with caustic laundry and cleaning chemicals.
