The Shop Service Technician is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting all equipment.

This is a dynamic role that will evolve to fit the needs of the company. The incumbent will be highly motivated and an effective problem solver with a strong mechanical and electrical background. This individual will thrive in a fast-paced and highly technical environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Basic Mechanical and Electrical knowledge: relays, electrical circuits, batteries, AC and DC power, solar.
  • Identify root cause of equipment malfunctions, battery operations, and electrical components.
  • Provide internal/on-site service of equipment including discussing issues, inspecting equipment and troubleshoot the issue.
  • Assemble products to current instructions, bill of materials and drawings through the utilization of the tools provided
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and policies
  • Proficient in electrical wiring and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of industrial batteries
  • Knowledge of basic engine maintenance
  • Experience with small generators; have serviced small diesel engines
  • Experience with hand tools, drills and meters
  • Perform in-process quality checks at the required QC levels, and maintain equipment & tools
  • Provide Technical Support to on-site staff and delegate schedule to maintain 24/7 support
  • Develop and Maintain asset inventory documentation
  • Provide support to Engineering in the form of test setup and implementation.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Adhere to all safety requirements both internal and external
  • Promote and maintain the organization’s brand image by keeping your appearance, work area and vehicle tidy
  • Basic knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems 
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems as asset
  • Basic engine maintenance (oil changes, change air filters, replacing fuel pumps, etc.)
  • Should you be required to transport equipment with company assets, you will be responsible for securing loads and verifying safe transport with all required documentation verified
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and metal components
  • Experience with hand tools, drills and volt meters
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work with a high degree of independence; must be a self - starter.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Technician/ Technologist and/ or Automation/ Instrumentation Technologist ideal
  • Previous experience in oil & gas industry preferred
  • TDG and First Aid H2S, WHMIS/GHS tickets an asset
  • Minimum high school diploma, some electrical and mechanical training preferred.
  • Forklift and Loader experience an asset.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Must have your own tools and safety boots, specialty tools, safety glasses and gloves will be supplied
  • You must be willing and able to work at heights of over 100 feet
  • Must be ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays on occasion
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract and reliable mode of transportation
  • A successfully pre-employment & pre access drug and alcohol test are a requirements of continued employment
  • Some travel will be expected
  • Must be able to lift/move a minimum of 50lb periodically.
