Job DescriptionJob Description

The Technical Publications team is looking for an internship candidate passionate about Technical Writing and Editing who can work with technical subject matter experts to create, edit, review, or publish documents and training materials.

In this role, you will partner with other technical publications experts to create documents such as User Guides, Handbooks, Release Notes, and PowerPoint-based trainings rich in images, sound, and technical descriptions. The primary focus will be on quick and easy understanding by the end-user of this material.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build, implement, and optimize content including technical images and text
  • Consult with subject matter experts to render content aligned with defined standards

  • Excellent at self-management and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex and technical ideas between executive, creative and technical teams.

Job assignments are usually for the summer or for short periods during breaks from school.

This is an internship and compensation will be given accordingly based on candidate education level and internship duration.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.


Minimum Requirements

Currently enrolled in an Associates or Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Publications, English, Journalism or a related field.

6+ months experience in writing and editing

6+ months of hands-on experience working with one or more of these tools:

A DITA editor or Adobe FrameMaker or XML editing

Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint

video editor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Portfolio of previous work is a plus.
  • Previous internship experience in corporate communications or technical communications is a plus.
  • Prior Computer Science education or experience (i.e., programming).
