Brightspeed Security Systems, a Pye-Barker company, is currently hiring an experienced Fire Alarm Technician in our Monroe, LA branch.


Position Summary: The Fire Alarm Technician position is for dedicated individuals with experience in the fire industry. The ideal candidate will be a responsible, self-starter capable of conducting installations, providing service, inspection of fire alarms, and associated low voltage systems without supervision.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Installation, service, and inspection of fire alarms and associated low voltage systems
  • System testing and inspecting to the prescribed standards
  • Provide on-site emergency troubleshooting and repairs of customers' fire alarms
  • Preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports
  • Ensuring a high level of customer service, satisfaction, and communication
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment on and off site
  • Interface successfully with Administration, Sales, Customers, and Management within the company
  • Maintains truck inventory and stock
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must be qualified to be licensed in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas.
  • Minimum two years' experience in installation, inspection, and service of Life Safety Systems
  • Previously or currently hold a Louisiana Level 1 and Level 2 license.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training, online courses, and testing.
  • Excellent and effective communications (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage situations without constant supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work on weekends, extended hours, and holidays as required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Experience or training in the operations of all office equipment.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Exemplary customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work with small tool and equipment
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized
  • Must have clean driving record and a valid Driver's License
  • Must read and speak English

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of prior experience in life safety installations, field service, and inspections.
  • Programming experience with fire panels

  • CAD experience
  • Previous experience with fire extinguishers, hood suppression and sprinkler systems.
