OVERNIGHT ALLOWANCE - MILEAGE - HOTEL REIMBURSEMENT - QUARTERLY BONUS

Summary: The Yard Driver is responsible for the efficient and safe transportation of materials and equipment within the company’s yard and between local job sites. This role is responsible for completing local transportation duties, staging equipment units for loading and unloading, vehicle inspections and maintenance, and must have the flexibility to fulfill over-the-road schedule demands as needed. This role also includes providing support to the Transportation Manager as needed.

Essential duties of Position:

  • Moving and staging tanks/trailers throughout the yard
  • Complete Pre- and Post-Trip inspections on any vehicle units assigned for operation
  • Identify maintenance needs for any vehicle units, to be reported into transportation electronic platform (SAMSARA) and management
  • Performs and coordinates minor maintenance repairs on equipment and coordinates with mechanics
  • Ability to learn and assist with duties in all plant departments (Bulk, Blending & Packaging)
  • Scaling inbound and outbound tankers onsite, at local customers, and/or vendor facilities as needed
  • Operate pumping equipment to offload products into various storage tanks and units
  • Flexible availability to accommodate schedule changes to cover over-the-road runs with possible overnights as needed.
  • Quality inspection of containers, lines, equipment, etc. before use to adhere to product integrity, as well as inspection of labels for capacity and correct product units
  • Labeling container products as applicable
  • Inspection of loaded tankers/trailers for over-the-road compliance, securement of load, and loaded products inventoried per Bill of Lading
  • Completing necessary documents for shipment, including but not limited to Sales Order Bills of Lading, Transfer Logs, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Transportation and Operations Manager for transfers required between all locations
  • Operate forklift as required
  • Flexible start and end times determined by Transportation Manager daily
  • Maintain a clean and safe operating environment compliant with OSHA and all applicable standards
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:

  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal traffic regulations
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance procedures including pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to transporting goods and awareness of emergency procedures in case of accidents or breakdowns
  • Understanding of documentation requirements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, shippers, and receivers
  • Strong time management skills to adhere to delivery schedules
  • Professionalism in representing the company to customers.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of long hours of driving.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for handling minor vehicle repairs.
  • Comfortability using email, phone, and tablets

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ job-related experience required
  • Valid CDL A Driver’s License Required
  • Valid Tanker Endorsement preferred
  • Overweight Hauling Permitted preferred
  • Valid Hazmat Endorsement preferred.
  • Must have valid Passport or Enhanced CDL A for border crossing
  • Must be able to travel commercial vehicles to and from Canada.
