Part Time - 20-25 hours per week - $17.00 per hour -


SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of the Youth Services Counselor:


Provide students with academic and character development activities by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned:

DUTIES:

SCHOOL YEAR: Provide after school homework help, academic enrichment and positive youth development activities for youth in a community center or school setting for students in grades K-12. Counselors should be able to instruct school-aged students in academic areas. Counselors must be able to participate fully with students in high energy and athletic activities.

  1. School Year is September – June: Monday – Friday (2pm – 7pm)

Accepting a few availability for Monday – Friday starting at 3:30pm or 4:00 pm

2. SUMMER: Conduct academic enrichment lessons, promote the safety and well-being of students, assist with life skills, promote and conduct recreational activities, monitor classroom activity and field trips. Counselors should be able to acclimate to various program curriculums easily and carry a professional attitude at all times. Counselors must be able to participate fully with students in high energy and athletic activities for grades K-8.

  1. Summer is June – August (8 weeks): Monday – Friday (8:00am-5:00pm)


EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
Required:
High school diploma and prior experience working with children.

Preferred: At least one year college level work in subject area; teaching or tutoring experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret educational periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and small groups. Ability to compose and critique subject area essays. High level grammatical skills for English Tutor.
