Job DescriptionJob Description

TITLE: Vascular Access Tech

LOCATION: Rochester, MN (Onsite)

SCHEDULE: 2 positions M-F 10pm-6:30am with an every other weekend rotation. 1 position M-F 10pm-8:30am with an every other weekend rotation.

PAY: $20.50 - $31.50 Hour DOE

This is the pay range that BAHAMA Consulting reasonably expects to pay someone for this position.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (Overtime paid at 1.5X regular rate of pay)

SUMMARY: Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (capillary, venous, assisted line and arterial collections) and standard safety equipment from all age groups with strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing phlebotomy support services to the Intensive care units and the Operating Room (OR).
  • Responsible for accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling and transportation as well as accurate specimen testing using Point of Care (POC) equipment.
  • Able to work with a variety of computer programs/systems.
  • Utilizes good customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomy, answering the phone and interacting with patients, nurses, providers and others health care professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Must possess skills in coping, understanding, following written and verbal instruction, organization, prioritization, attention to detail, problem solving, critical thinking and decision making.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of a phlebotomy training program that provides a clinical rotation or 3 months of phlebotomy experience.
  • Inpatient/hospital experience as well as National Phlebotomy certification (e.g. NHA, ASCP, etc.) preferred.
  • MLT/MT/CLS degreed candidates with phlebotomy experience.
