The New Ventures Arm of the Heritage Group (THG) is hiring a CTO for a new SaaS startup in the civil infrastructure sector. This position will be with HG Ventures' latest incubation company, which is in pre-public launch (aka StreetIQ). The company enables municipalities to realize substantial efficiency and operating benefits by constantly evaluating and managing their road assets. StreetIQ offers an AI-driven solution to capture and assess road quality data. Customers use this data to create a construction and maintenance management plan that is optimized for the cost, efficiency, and longevity of their road network. The solution addresses a very large market that will continue to grow as infrastructure needs expand. You'll work closely with the internal THG New Ventures team while reporting directly to the CEO. This is a unique opportunity to lead a start-up that is fully funded and supported by THG.

About This Role:

This role will be responsible for leading the technology, engineering, and infrastructure organizations while also keeping the company on the bleeding edge of innovation and technology. You will initially lead the development efforts around building and scaling the MVP, while also developing a strategic long-term roadmap for building a high-growth, venture-backed software platform.

As a member of the founding team, you will also have a hand in setting the mission and values for the business. You will have an opportunity to be an active participant in key business decisions at the most strategic level and help shape the culture of the overall organization.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be an active member of the founding executive team
  • Lead the team of internal and offshore developers and engineers, establishing and maintaining standards regimens
  • Build team with guidance, mentorship, and a path for growth within the technology organization
  • Oversee the development of a technical roadmap for innovation and technical requirements ensuring the product is stable and innovative
  • Keep a pulse on the company's development stack and related technologies to ensure engineering is staying current and competitive
  • Guide the technical vision for the company and shape technological strategies that exceed customer expectations

The successful candidate will have the following profile:

  • 4+ years in a Management/Executive role with experience overseeing engineering, design, and product in a startup environment
  • Proven Track record of hiring and leading world-class technical teams
  • Ideally has had the experience in aligning multiple products to one technical strategy and roadmap
  • Experience working in early stage of a SaaS start-up or scale-up company that has grown at a rapid scale
  • Has experience working alongside other executive leaders to drive strategic direction, but willing and capable to roll up their sleeves on tactical items
  • A desire to lead from the front, by engaging with users, defining product priorities, specifying requirements as well as functioning strategically
  • Effective personal and team-based project management capabilities
  • Serial entrepreneur with positive exits is a plus
  • The ability to convey thoughts effectively both verbally and in writing to multiple levels of stakeholders
